Sustainable Energy Centres of Vocational Excellence

Erasmus+ • SECOVE • Sustainable Energy Centres of Vocational Excellence

The green transition needs clean energy. But it also needs people who know how to make it happen.

SECOVE connects vocational education and training, research and the labour market, creating a European ecosystem of vocational excellence in the field of clean and sustainable energy.

What does the green transition really mean for vocational education and training?

It means that technologies change, occupations evolve and skills need to evolve with them. SECOVE develops Centres of Vocational Excellence that bring together VET providers, companies, universities, research organisations and other stakeholders so that vocational education can respond to the real needs of the sustainable energy sector.

“The energy transition does not begin only with new technology. It begins with knowledge, skills and the people who can turn that technology into reality.” — the idea behind SECOVE

From labour market needs to vocational excellence

SECOVE creates a cycle of cooperation where the needs of the green economy are translated into new knowledge, relevant training and professional opportunities.

1

We listen to the labour market

Companies and sector stakeholders contribute to identifying new skills and occupational profiles required by renewable energy and sustainable energy industries.

2

We develop training

Vocational education adapts its learning content and educational approaches so that the knowledge acquired by learners remains relevant, practical and connected with labour market developments.

3

We connect ecosystems

VET providers, universities, businesses, research organisations and public authorities cooperate through Centres of Vocational Excellence and joint initiatives.

4

We create opportunities

Training, mobility, work-based learning, innovation and entrepreneurship create more pathways towards a sustainable professional future.

Vocational education changes together with the energy sector

The transition towards cleaner energy sources creates new technical requirements and transforms existing occupational profiles.

SECOVE therefore approaches VET not as an isolated educational environment but as an active part of a broader regional skills ecosystem. Knowledge produced through research and industry returns to education and becomes new learning opportunities.

The labour market becomes part of the learning process

Companies are not simply waiting at the end of the pathway when a graduate starts looking for employment. They participate in discussions about skills, cooperation and the connection between vocational training and real sector needs.

This creates a continuous cycle: the labour market communicates its needs to education, while education prepares people who can contribute to the next stage of the green economy.

More than a network of education providers

SECOVE creates a European framework where vocational excellence, sustainable energy, innovation and lifelong learning work together.

Sustainable energy skills

Learning resources and training opportunities focus on the competences and professional qualifications required by the modern sustainable energy labour market.

🏫

Centres of Vocational Excellence

National CoVEs act as connection points between education, business, research, innovation and regional development.

💡

Innovation & applied learning

Workshops, innovation activities and cooperation with the real world of work help learners transform theoretical knowledge into applied solutions.

🌍

European cooperation

Centres of Vocational Excellence cooperate across countries, exchange good practices and contribute to a common European approach to vocational excellence.

The green transition needs more talent — not less.

One of SECOVE’s important objectives is to make vocational education and technical occupations more attractive and inclusive for women. Sustainable energy creates new professional opportunities, and these opportunities need to be visible and accessible to everyone.

Through dedicated activities, educational initiatives and summer academies, the project strengthens the engagement of girls and women with technical and energy-related fields, contributing to a more inclusive green economy.

Thematic SAEK Egaleo within the Greek SECOVE ecosystem

Thematic SAEK Egaleo participates in SECOVE as a member of the Greek Centre of Vocational Excellence, contributing its experience in technical vocational education, advanced technologies and specialisations directly linked with the green and digital transition.

SAEK Egaleo’s participation is particularly relevant because the institution offers specialisations positioned precisely at the intersection of technology, automation and sustainable energy.

Vocational excellence means preparing for the future before it becomes the present.

SECOVE demonstrates how vocational education can act as a driving force for the green transition: not only by training people for existing jobs, but by developing the skills, partnerships and culture of innovation required by tomorrow’s sustainable economy.

SECOVE: where green energy meets vocational excellence.

Education, business, research and innovation connect through a shared European ecosystem that helps people develop the skills required by the green transition and brings VET one step closer to the future.
