Building capacity in Augmented Reality Technologies for VET in Israel and Albania
Call : ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CB-VET
Project id : 101128976 – BIG ART
What if the classroom did not end at four walls? What if learning could gain another layer of reality?
BIG ART brings Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality technologies into vocational education and training, creating new ways for trainers and learners to learn, design, collaborate and prepare for an increasingly digital professional environment.
Augmented Reality adds digital information, images and interactive elements to the physical world. Mixed Reality goes even further, allowing physical and digital environments to interact. For vocational education and training, this creates an important opportunity: theory can move closer to practice and training can move closer to real working conditions.
From new technology to a new learning experience
BIG ART does not treat AR as an impressive gadget. It turns it into an educational tool and connects it with skills, real projects and labour market needs.
We explore the technology
Trainers and learners engage with Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and related immersive technologies, understanding not only how they work but also how they can be used in vocational education and training.
We learn by doing
Through bootcamps and hands-on activities, knowledge becomes practice. Participants design, test and use digital tools in learning scenarios that reflect real working environments.
We work on real projects
The project-based learning approach connects technical competences with problem solving, creativity, communication and teamwork, strengthening both technical and transversal skills.
We connect with the labour market
Cooperation with companies and industry representatives helps training remain connected with real needs, professional challenges and emerging employment opportunities in the digital sector.
The physical world
Vocational education is built around learning by doing: workshops, equipment, real processes, practical problems and professional scenarios.
However, it is not always possible to reproduce every workplace condition inside a training environment, especially where specialised or costly equipment is required or where practice needs to take place in a controlled setting.
+ a digital layer
This is where Augmented and Mixed Reality create new possibilities. Digital objects, information and simulations can be integrated into the learning experience, offering new ways to practise, explore and interact.
Technology does not replace practical training. It enriches it and creates more opportunities for a learner to observe, test, make mistakes and ultimately learn.
BIG ART turns technology into a learning experience
Bootcamps, training activities, project-based learning and cooperation between VET providers and industry create an integrated environment for skills development.
AR & Mixed Reality skills
Trainers and learners develop knowledge of Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and immersive technologies and explore their potential application in vocational education and training.
Intensive bootcamps
Intensive training creates space for hands-on learning, experimentation, application development and exchange of experience between trainers and learners.
Project-based learning
Participants move beyond theory and work on projects and challenges, combining technological knowledge with teamwork, creativity, problem solving and communication.
International and multicultural cooperation
Cooperation between Greece, Italy, Israel and Albania creates a learning experience that goes beyond a single institution or country and strengthens knowledge exchange and different perspectives.
Technology with people at the centre
Behind AR are the people who learn how to use it. BIG ART places particular emphasis on access to new skills, professional development and improved opportunities for young people who do not always have equal access to emerging technologies.
Learners gain experience with modern technologies and develop skills that can strengthen their future professional opportunities.
Trainers enrich their teaching practice with new digital tools and gain the capacity to integrate AR-based learning activities into vocational training.
Closer cooperation between VET providers and employers strengthens the link between training provision and real labour market needs.
Thematic SAEK Egaleo in the BIG ART European cooperation
Thematic SAEK Egaleo participates from Greece in the development of BIG ART, contributing its experience in vocational education and training, digital technologies and STEAM-based approaches.
The cooperation connects SAEK Egaleo with VET providers in Israel and Albania and with technological expertise from Italy, creating an international environment for knowledge exchange around Augmented and Mixed Reality.
Participation in BIG ART therefore goes beyond introducing a new technology. It supports knowledge transfer, capacity building and the development of educational practices that can continue to be used beyond the lifetime of the project.
The goal is not to use more technology.
The goal is to use it better. To create learning experiences that make learners more active, trainers more creative and vocational education more closely connected to the technologies and competences shaping the modern world of work.
BIG ART: when reality becomes the starting point for something more.
Through Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, bootcamps, international cooperation and project-based learning, BIG ART creates new opportunities for vocational education and training and for the people preparing to enter the digital world of work.
