Europe’s energy future also lies offshore. But who will have the skills to make it happen?

Offshore renewable energy is creating new technologies, new occupations and new skills needs. SHOREWINNER connects vocational education and training with research and industry, helping ensure that the green transition is supported by a workforce equipped with the knowledge and competences required for the future.

The energy transition is not only about wind turbines. It is also about the skills behind them.

SHOREWINNER builds a European Community of Practice in offshore renewable energy by bringing VET providers, universities, research organisations, companies and industry stakeholders into the same ecosystem. Its goal is to turn knowledge into relevant training and training into real professional opportunities.

“The green transition needs technology. It equally needs people who know how to design it, install it, operate it and improve it.” — the idea behind SHOREWINNER

From labour market needs to the skills of tomorrow

SHOREWINNER creates a pathway that starts with the real needs of the offshore renewable energy sector and leads to education, new competences and professional opportunities.

1

We identify the needs

Education, research and industry work together to identify skills gaps and emerging occupational profiles linked to the development of offshore renewable energy.

2

We design training

Identified needs are translated into relevant vocational education and training programmes, learning resources and new educational approaches.

3

We develop skills

SHOREWINNER supports upskilling and reskilling, helping workers, learners and professionals adapt to a rapidly evolving sector.

4

We build the ecosystem

Through the Centres of Vocational Excellence and the Community of Practice, long-term links are created between VET, businesses, research and society.

For vocational education and training

SHOREWINNER strengthens the role of VET in the green transition. Vocational education providers do not simply follow changes in the labour market; they actively contribute to shaping new knowledge and new professional pathways.

Through new curricula, learning resources, cooperation with sector experts and exchange of good practices, training can respond faster and more effectively to the real needs of the offshore industry.

For industry and the workforce

Offshore energy development requires a workforce with specialised technical, digital and green competences. SHOREWINNER therefore builds a direct bridge between employers and training systems.

The logic is simple: companies express their real needs, education adapts, and more people gain competences that have genuine value in the labour market.

Five Centres of Vocational Excellence. One European ecosystem.

At the heart of SHOREWINNER are five Centres of Vocational Excellence – CoVEs – working together to strengthen vocational excellence in offshore renewable energy.

🎓

Vocational excellence

Modern training programmes, new educational methodologies and learning pathways that connect directly with the needs of the offshore energy sector.

🌊

Offshore renewable energy

Specialised knowledge and skills development around one of the most dynamic areas of Europe’s energy and green transition.

🤝

Community of Practice

A common space for networking, knowledge exchange, good practices, learning resources and cooperation among different stakeholders.

⚙️

Upskilling & reskilling

New opportunities for continuous professional development, helping workers and emerging professionals respond to the changing needs of the green economy.

SAEK Egaleo in the Greek Centre of Vocational Excellence

Greece participates in SHOREWINNER through the Greek CoVE, a collaborative ecosystem that connects vocational education and training with academic research, scientific expertise and the wind energy sector.

Thematic SAEK Egaleo is one of the four founding members of the Greek CoVE, contributing its experience in vocational education and training, skills development and the connection between education and the emerging needs of the green labour market.

We are not only training for the jobs that exist today.

We are preparing people for occupations that evolve together with technology, the energy transition and the new green economy. By connecting education, research and industry, SHOREWINNER contributes to a more adaptable, specialised and resilient workforce for Europe’s offshore renewable energy sector.

Because the future of green energy also needs the skills of the future.

SHOREWINNER brings together people, organisations and countries to create knowledge, training and professional pathways that support Southern Europe’s transition towards a sustainable energy future.
