Support Sphere: Empowering VET Students Against NEET Risk
Project Number: KA220-VET-000254929
Sometimes a young person’s future begins with a very simple sentence: “I am not sure what comes next.”
SupportSphere starts exactly there. It creates a support environment around VET learners, helping them understand their strengths, explore their career options and move from uncertainty towards informed decisions about education, training and employment.
What if it is also about confidence, relationships, self-awareness and having the right people beside you at the right moment? SupportSphere approaches career guidance as a continuous process in which learners, VET trainers, peers and institutions form a circle of support.
From uncertainty to direction
SupportSphere builds a practical pathway that helps VET learners become active participants in their own professional future.
I understand myself
Learners explore their interests, values, skills and aspirations through reflection and self-evaluation tools.
I see my options
Career guidance becomes more concrete through accessible information, practical tools and links between education and the labour market.
I am supported
Trainers, tutors, peers and other members of the learner’s social environment become part of a stronger career support network.
I move forward
The learner gains confidence to make informed choices and take the next step towards employment, further education or training.
For VET learners
SupportSphere does not tell young people what they should become. Instead, it gives them the space and tools to reflect on who they are, what matters to them and which professional pathways they want to explore.
The project’s self-evaluation approach supports learners in identifying professional interests, reflecting on career readiness and recognising the people, services and opportunities that can support their next steps.
For VET trainers
The project strengthens the role of VET trainers, tutors and guidance professionals as facilitators of career development. It equips them with methods, practical activities and reflective tools that support inclusive, learner-centred guidance.
The aim is not only to provide information, but also to build self-efficacy, challenge stereotypes, explore personal and professional values and support smoother transitions from VET to the labour market.
A project that turns ideas into practical resources
Research, training, digital tools and peer support come together to create resources that VET professionals and learners can use in real educational settings.
SupportSphere Handbook
A practical resource for VET professionals that brings together research findings, career guidance approaches, tools and strategies for supporting learners at risk of disengagement.
Self-evaluation tool
A guided reflection journey that helps learners explore professional interests, personal resources, career readiness and possible next steps.
Training programme
Seven interconnected modules support VET trainers and tutors in developing stronger career guidance competences through theory, reflection and practical activities.
Digital learning and support
Online resources, e-learning content and recorded professional experiences expand access to career guidance and allow project results to remain available beyond face-to-face activities.
SAEK Egaleo at the centre of a European collaboration
SupportSphere is coordinated by SAEK Egaleo, bringing together six organisations from Greece, Spain, Belgium and Italy. As project coordinator, SAEK Egaleo supports the overall implementation, collaboration and monitoring of the project, connecting expertise from vocational education and training, research, guidance, quality assurance and European networks.
This European cooperation allows the project to move beyond a single national perspective and develop resources that can be adapted to different VET environments while maintaining one common objective: helping more young people remain connected to education, training and employment.
Because no career journey should begin without support.
SupportSphere works towards a VET environment where young people recognise their potential, trainers have the tools to guide them and career decisions become informed, supported and connected to real opportunities.
